The inspiration for this post is two-fold. First, a good friend of mine has a crush on this guy. Everyone in our social circle got the memo with the exception of the guy in question. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. He could really be oblivious to how she feels about him (which I low key doubt) or he could be awkward when it comes to women (which is most likely the case).
Weeks of getting him to open up went by. Progress would be made, but she couldn’t penetrate that wall he installed. At this point, she’s annoyed and on the cusp of being over it. Honestly, I can’t blame her. At some point you get tired of putting forth all this effort for little to nothing in return.
Remember when I said that this post was two-fold? Here’s the second part.
While browsing through my YouTube subscriptions, I ran across the below video from Qaadir Howard. Everyone isn’t going to be your cup o’ tea, no matter how awesome your personality may be…and that’s perfectly fine. Check out the video and leave a reply with your thoughts.
I’m a HUGE fan of the CNBC show “American Greed” for a couple of reasons. One, I’m always amazed at how gullible some of these victims are. On the “Preying on Faith” case, a pastor traveled all over the country preaching the word to various churches. While preaching the word, he would talk about a program he had. Under the program, churches would invest money in exchange for a large financial return.
Of course, people fell for it.
How was he able to scam so many? He literally preyed on faith. Morally, it’s every bit of wrong. I felt sorry for those who put all of their money together for the investment. They believed that a man of God wouldn’t scam them.
But at some point during the episode, I was even more amazed that these same people were believing the excuses for why they weren’t receiving their promised returns of big money. I’m talking about months of not seeing any money and NOBODY rang the alarm that maybe something isn’t quite right.
C’mon now! If it sounds too good to be true, IT’S PROBABLY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!!
Moral of the story: Take nothing at face value!! If it doesn’t sit right with you, start researching. Don’t get wrapped up in the shiny outcome that you don’t analyze the steps to get there.
It was Sunday around 1:25 am EST. My friends and I were at our favorite club acting up as usual. We caught up while we sipped cocktails. Just a typical gathering until the DJ started playing some of our favorite songs. Little did I know that this typical night would soon become legendary.
My best friend was feeling the moment and decided to take the stage as her alter ego.
My friends and I were at our favorite club acting up as usual. The DJ started playing some classics and things got crazy.
My best friend’s decided to take the stage as her alter ego. Not only did her alter ego show up, but she SHOWED OUT!!! Homegirl was a dancing machine. She was definitely feeling herself.
I got inspired watching her.
It was a rough week. Being around my friends with the bass vibrating through our bodies felt amazing. We yelled, we screamed, we celebrated.
For a couple of hours, we left it on the dance floor and it felt great!
1. YouTube
My favorite comedy channels are Funky Dineva, Chris Starr, Sweet Addictions TV, and BrianBee.
2. Silence
To avoid saying something I’ll regret later, I keep mum.
3. Chipotle
A barbacoa burrito bowl always makes me smile.
4. Watch “Will and Grace”.
My favorite TV show of all time. The comedic timing of that show was brilliant!
5. Pour a Drink.
Honey Whiskey is always available in my home.
6. Pinterest
Spend some time scrolling through pins and forget all about your bad mood.
7. Write
Putting my thoughts/feelings in my journal relieves so much tension. When I go back to read it, I can recognize the catalysts that sparked my bad mood.
8. Take a walk.
Fresh air to clear the mind and get some exercise.
9. Dancing
Put on some upbeat music and dance it out!
10. Naps
When all else fails, goodnight.
My love of heights began when I was a kid. I would stand on the sofa arm, chairs, beds, etc. Big Bird wasn’t so tall when your three year old self was at eye level with the television.
I guess you could say I understood the woes of being vertically-challenged early in life.
As an adult, my love for heights has manifested into an appreciation for the world around me. Being able to take in the view from hundreds of feet in the air is amazing. Life looks so different when you’re looking down.
When you have a moment, go stand on a high point. Whether it’s the top of your stairs or a hilltop, take in the view.
Enjoy the lovely heights.
