I am a HUGE fan of The Simpsons! My favorite episode is when Bart sells his soul to Milhouse. Bart didn’t realize the value of his soul until the emptiness became too loud to ignore.
I can think of a couple people who have sold their souls for less.
I don’t believe in avoiding issues that are clearly bothering my spirit. Avoiding it leads to an unnecessary physical and mental burden. It’s so much easier to just deal with it head on.
Build the bridge and just get over it.
People are quick to proclaim that they are “over it”. They practically sing it to the world. In the instances where the issue is brought up in general conversation, all hell breaks loose.
For example, a bad breakup takes place. You tell your circle that you’re over the relationship. Your circle is having a random conversation about relationships and someone recalls a funny story about you and your ex.
The story’s intent wasn’t malicious. It was part of the topic of conversation at that time. You beg to differ and verbally decapitate the storyteller.
Didn’t you just send out a verbal press release that you had gotten over that bridge?
Discuss this famous Anais Nin quote: “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
When you live your life based on the expectations of others, you slowly suffocate. Emotional duct tape is applied. Your dreams, wants, fears are silenced.
The worst feeling is to look in the mirror and not recognize the face staring back at you. That’s the moment when you take your life back.
Duct tape has to go. Your voice needs to be heard. Your life needs to be lived the way you want to live it.
Talk about a website or blog you wish you had invented.
I wish I had invented the blog Not Always Working. Everyone who has worked in customer service has war stories. Creating a blog that allows people to upload their war stories is a perfect way to not only relieve some stress, but share the stupidity.
