The Recovering Pessimist

Helping pessimists see the bright side of life without losing their "half empty" roots.

Optimism: Key to Success

The purpose of this blog is to help me become more optimistic, which is a challenge in itself. On the other hand, adopting an optimistic outlook has counteracted the crippling fear that kept success from my reach.

The pessimist sees all the roadblocks standing in the way of success. The biggest roadblock being failure. Nothing gets accomplished with failure at the helm. Once I learned to see the roadblocks not as roadblocks, but as the steps to success, the impossible became possible.

Optimistic Unicorns

Sometimes, you just want to wallow in your own crappy mood. Really, you do. I have moments when I just want my emotional weather report to reflect thunderstorms with a 90% chance of lightning. It’s safe to say that my mood is less than stellar and I don’t see a problem with it.

Unicorns aren’t always welcome.

Now, while I’m in the midst of my moodiness, I have these folks fluttering around with words of wisdom dipped in glitter and sunshine.

“You need to perk up.”

I refer to these folks as Optimistic Unicorns, aka walking emotional contradictions. Full of sunshine and the spirit of a well-loved mythical creature, these folks irk my damn nerves. Take all that optimism elsewhere and let my thunderstorm play out.

I promise I’ll return to my normal self…eventually.
