Fall Defined
Fall is a flash of reds, yellows, and browns. These colors fall from their perch, dancing their way to the ground. The wind is chilly, caressing my face and tickling my nose. Rain creates puddles enticing me to jump in.
I wrap myself in the warmth of sweaters and jackets. My feet cozy in thick socks and boots. I wish the weather would stay this way until the birth of Spring but alas, that it is not meant to be.
Night begins earlier, the darkness misleading. Hot beverages warm a chilly body in the morning air. Evenings are spent watching fall TV shows in the glow of a burning candle, cuddled up in a blanket.
Crock pots slowly cook soups and stews. Pumpkin spice everything fill the shelves. Ovens bake goods sprinkled with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Apples and cranberries are the fruit of the season.
The season never seems to last long enough but I enjoy the time that it’s here. So excited for the festivals, baked goods, and apple cider. Another season of memories.
Welcome Fall.

Public Service Announcement: Don’t Speak About What You Don’t Understand
People have a tendency to speak without thinking. Nothing has made this more evident than Michael Brown’s shooting in Ferguson, the death of Robin Williams by suicide, and Ray Rice being suspended indefinitely from the NFL after video surfaced of him punching his then-fiancée in the face.
I understand that everyone has an opinion. My issue is when folks fail to consider the faintest possibility that this could happen to them.
Here are a few things I’ve heard in recent months on regards to the above events:
The police won’t shoot you without reason. He had to have done something to provoke the officer.
How can you just hang yourself? That’s selfish. I could never do that.
I wouldn’t stay around if my boyfriend/fiancé/husband hit me. Why did she stay? Why did she marry him? I bet it was the money that made her stay. She probably provoked him to him her.
That’s just a taste of the ignorance I’ve read and/or heard. People speak and/or type these opinion in a public space and have no clue who’s around to hear it.
There’s a point when opinions can easily become ignorant commentary. Please refrain from speaking about what you know nothing about.
End of transmission

Christmas Arrived Early…and it’s K-Mart’s Fault
While watching the first Thursday Night Football game of the season, I saw a K-Mart commercial. Usually, this is no big deal. K-Mart commercials, specifically Ship Your Pants, are hilarious. However, this one threw me for such a loop I just had to share it with you.
My issue with this commercial is that it’s another example of retailers accelerating the holidays. Grocery stores are selling Halloween candy next to back to school supplies. Kids haven’t finished the first week of school.
People become so consumed buying gifts and supplies for holidays that they can’t really enjoy them. It’s the second week of September and Halloween costumes/decorations are popping up on shelves. Pretty soon, stores will have sales on baking supplies and Christmas lights.
Good grief.

Comfort in Gestures
When I’m going through something, I don’t necessarily want people to help me in the verbal sense. To me, the fewer people involved the better.
